Vevo
A dynamic new visual language for the world’s leading music video network.
Vevo is virtually synonymous with music videos online, providing access to over 500,000 videos across many genres and labels.
A new identity, built from the ground up in motion, was developed at PORTO ROCHA to expand the breadth and recognition of the brand beyond its iconic and recognizable logo.
The layout system, developed to feel intrinsic to the medium of the music video, evolves naturally from static to motion, providing high energy even in still compositions.
The system is both functional and expressive, becoming its own recognizable asset in Vevo’s new identity.
Reducing content to simple modules that scale endlessly works hand-in-hand with the sheer volume of video that exists within the Vevo library. The scaling works to amplify and give hierarchy where needed across simple and more complex compositions.
Typography in motion mirrors the layout system by using shades of color as emphasis.
The system was formalized by segmenting the behaviors into discrete modes. When understood separately, they can be combined together to create endless iterations of motion expressions.
